Norma Jean Hankins, 79, of Waco, passed away Thursday, September 22, in a Waco hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.

Norma was born October 17, 1926 in Jasper County, Missouri to Homer and Opal (Smith) Shank. She was a homemaker who was married September 29, 1946 to Roger Hankins.

She was a servant of our Lord in ministering to him in songs and praises by being an organist and pianist for her church home and singing in each church choir. She was a member of the Baylor Senior Choir and the Waco Garden Club.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Woodway and of the church's senior choir.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Roger Hankins; sons, Keith M. Hankins and wife, Sharon of Waco, and David R. Hankins and wife, Peggy of Pleasant Garden, N.C.; grandchildren, Paige Hankins and Erin Hankins of Waco, Tradd Hankins and wife, Carla of Apex, N.C., and Matt Hankins of Pleasant Garden, N.C.; great grandchild, Luke Hankins of Apex, N.C; brothers, Marvin Shank and wife, Pat and Charles Shank and wife, Gloria, of Joplin, Mo., and Dwain Shank of Jay, Okla,., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be George Roper, Don Addison, Gaylan Beavers, Wayne Nance, William Hall, and Robbie Roberson. Honorary pallbearer will be Don McGregor.
