Norma Thomason, 79, of Palestine and formerly of Waco, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Palestine after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Norma was born December 4, 1931 in Corsicana to Henry and Velma Bentley. Norma worked many years for Piggly Wiggly Food Stores becoming their 2nd female store manager in 1977. After many years with Piggly Wiggly, Norma went to work at The Salon of Serendipity in Waco as a receptionist and bookkeeper. Norma was very active in Beta Sigma Phi, Waco Federation of Women's Club, Presidents Club and American Business Woman's Association while living in Waco. She was a member of Lakewood Christian Church and Columbus Avenue Baptist Church Ruth Class.
She was preceded in death by husbands, James Thomason and John Bartholomew; sister, Etha Hand; brother, Hubert Bentley.
Norma is survived by her husband, Clifford; sons, Barry Thomason and wife, Pam and Michael Thomason and wife, Judy; daughter, DeLynn Hall and husband, Gene; step son, Paul Thomason and wife, Debbie; step daughters, Sue Ann Manning and husband, Billy and Rhonda Wierema and husband, Jon; nine grandchildren; her sister, Ora Lee Bonner; niece, Bonnie McNeely; and best friend of 50 years, Dorothy Sawyer Brewer.
