Ofilia Serrato

Ofilia Vasquez Serrato, 82, of Waco, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2004, at El Calvario Presbyterian Church, 2222 Dutton Avenue, with Rev. Edward Perez officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4820 Bosque.

Ofilia was born December 19, 1921 in Donie, to Hilario and Maria (Losoya) Vasquez. She married Willie Serrato, Sr. on April 28, 1946 in Waco. She worked at H&B for 25 years before retiring, and was a member of El Calvario Presbyterian Church.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed. She was a caring mentor to all her family, and also to her nieces and nephews. She was a dedicated Christian woman who served her church faithfully since 1945. She really liked making tamales at home and for church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Serrato, Sr., in 1998, and her daughter, Olga Garcia, in 2003.

She leaves her sons, Albert Serrato and Willie Serrato, Jr. and wife, Irma; daughter, Theresa Serrato, all of Waco; sister, Portiria Contreras of Waco; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Michael Garcia, Christopher Tissier, Guillermo, Joe, Eric, and Greg Serrato.
