Oma Fay Carrigan
March 21, 1926 – November 21, 2014
Oma Fay “Doodle” (Stephens) Carrigan joined her loved ones in heaven on Friday, November 21, 2014, surrounded by those who loved her as she was ushered into God’s arms. Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Chance and Rev. David Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2014, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Lovingly known to many as “Doodle” or “Aunt Doodle”. Oma moved to Waco in 1942 with family where her career expanded throughout her life as a seamstress at Woods Manufacturing and Stephens Drapery. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, reading, and most of all she enjoyed her family and friends. Her love for God and her living example was an inspiration to all that knew her. “Doodle” lived a full, joyful, loving life, she will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry C. and Mattie J. Stephens; 1st husband, Claude T. Brewer; son, C.T. Brewer; 2nd husband, Rev. Austin “Deacon” Carrigan; son, Gary Carrigan; sisters, Eva Allen, Gerald Brewer; and brothers, H.C. “Bud” Stephens, W.C. Stephens SR, Roy Stephens, Coy Stephens, Darrell Stephens SR.
She is survived by her children, Richard Carrigan and wife, Veeda, Ann Lipsey, Brenda Carrigan, Kay Carrigan and granddaughter, Bianca; sister, Marie Custer; brothers, A.D. “Abby” Stephens SR, R.D. “Ronnie” Stephens SR and wife, Deborah; sister-in-law, Grace Stephens; and multiple nieces and nephews.
