Oscar Banda, 68 years old, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, in Dallas, Texas at UT Southwestern Hospital surrounded by all his loving family.
Visitation will be 1-8 pm, Sunday, October 10, 2021 with a Rosary beginning at 6 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas 76710. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Monday, October 11, 2021 at St. Francis Catholic Church, 315 Jefferson Avenue, Waco, Texas 76701. Burial will follow the mass at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 I-35, Waco, Texas 76706.
Oscar was born in Brownsville, Texas and moved to Waco, Texas and met his wife, Maria and had 4 children. He married Maria by civil court on April 26, 1981, and renewed their vows on May 22, 1999 in church at St. Francis Catholic Church. He worked at Fleetwood homes, Baylor University Apartments, Khoury Inc. as a plumber, Maintenance, and carpentry. He was able to have a double lung transplant on June 19, 2018. He was a friendly, kind, family man that loved his family. He was funny and liked to joke around and put a smile on your face. Always gave close family members a nickname. He was always there if you needed help and he always said "yes." he was a strong man that gave it his all and made the best of every minute of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joaquin and Manuela Banda; and brother, Joaquin Banda, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Banda of 40 years; daughter, Rebecca Banda and husband, Adrian Olmedo; son, Oscar Jr. and wife, Dali Banda; son, Jack and wife, Alexandra Banda; and son, Johnny and wife, Lupe Banda, all of Waco; grandchildren, Oscar "Charty", Destiny, Briana, Felix, Katelynn, Jonathan, Victoria, Vivienne, Jack Junior, and Johnny Banda; his siblings, Gracie, Francisco, Pete, Cenobio, Gloria, Martin, Eva, and Rene Banda; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Banda, Oscar Jr. Banda, Adrian Olmedo, Freddie Martinez, Hector Lee Gonzalez, Joe Garza, Gabriel Martinez, Saul Mendez, and Martin Banda.
