Mr. Oscar Hardin, 78, of Waco, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2003, at a Waco hospital. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. OakCrest Funeral Home is located just across the street from the Heart of Texas Fair Complex.

SERVICES

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2003, at Evergreen Baptist Church, 3206 Old Marlin Road, Waco, with Rev. Ron Keener officiating.

Oscar was born June 29, 1924, in Hanna, Oklahoma, the son of the late Monroe Dillard and Mary Belle (Reeves) Hardin.

He married Betty Sanders on September 7, 1946, in Roaring Springs, Texas. They operated Hardin Furniture Showroom in Waco for many years.

Oscar served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church of Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

SURVIVORS
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Hardin of Waco; two sons, Craig Hardin of Waco and Cary Hardin and his wife Karen of Valley Mills; two daughters, Chris Nelms of Los Angeles and Cindy Vengroff and her husband Richard of Connecticut; two sisters, Ethel Feagan of Lubbock and Gladys Phillips of Morton; grandchildren, Steve Nelms, Melinda Nelms, Marriah Vengroff, Chance Hardin, Darren Vengroff, and Babacar Ndao; and great grandchildren, Taryn Nelms and Richie Ndao, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
