Pat Hernandez

Pat Hernandez was born to Esther and Ascencion Hernandez on March 17, 1923, in Taft, Texas. Pat’s life extended over nine decades, and the amounts of memories he would tell could fill volumes and he was never shy to relate them.

Pat worked at Wood Brothers as a tailor where he met his future wife, Fay. They were married on October 6, 1956. He later went to work for Goldstein-Migel. He retired from Goldstein at the age of 76. He took great pride in his job, and it always showed in his appearance. He was often told he was the best dressed man in Waco.

After he retired, he could be found working in the yard. His hobbies were watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.

Pat and Fay had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on October 6th. They had two daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, with 3 more on the way. Pat loved going outside with his grandkids to watch them play.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents and four siblings, Jose, Teodoro, Rosa, and Bruno.

He is survived by his wife, Fay; daughter, Gloria Holcomb and husband Chris, daughter, Judy Stone, and husband Clayton; granddaughter, Jessica Gilliam and husband Michael, grandson, Jason Holcomb and wife Allison, grandson, Clayton Stone, Jr. and wife Renee, grandson, Ryan Holcomb and wife Morgan, granddaughter, Jeryn Theiss and husband Ray, granddaughter Jordan Stone and fiancé Brian, granddaughter, Julia Schulbe and husband Henry; 11 great grandchildren, Mason, Maddox, Payton, Lexi, Liam, Ford, Jackson, Logan, Jack, Henry IV, Brock and 3 on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

Although Pawpaw is no longer with us, his cheerful voice and warmest of smiles, will forever live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew him. His stories will continue to make us laugh, remember, and celebrate his memory. His legacy will live on in spirit, and one day, all of our children will seem to have known him as well.
