Pat Strother, 67, of Waco, passed away at her home Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Seventh & James Baptist Church. A reception will be held in Harper Hall following the service.
Pat was born September 17, 1943 in Meridian to J.O. and Ann Martin Strother. She earned a bachelor's degree in Church Music from Baylor University, and worked with youth in two Waco churches for four years before entering Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where she earned an M.A. in Christian Education.
After seminary, she worked six years in Louisville and Morehead, KY, as a social worker in the areas of adoptions and juvenile corrections. Prior to joining the staff of Seventh & James Baptist Church, she was a case worker at the Methodist Children's Home in Waco.
On Memorial Day weekend, she had celebrated along with the Pecos High School Class of 1961 their 50th class reunion, and she had also recently celebrated 24 years as a staff member of Seventh & James Baptist Church. She loved music, ranging from choral anthems to Willie Nelson and Elvis. She loved her niece and nephew like they were her own.
She is survived by her brothers, James Turner (Jim) and his wife Julie of The Colony, TX and Robert Frank (Bobby) of Lewisville, TX.; her niece, Jenni Leanne Strother Simmons and her husband John Scott Simmons of Houston; and her nephew James Joseph (Jody) of Houston.
