Patricia Littleton Klefeker, 78, of Newport, Tennessee and formerly of Waco, passed away peacefully at her residence Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Saluda United Methodist Church in Saluda, North Carolina followed by a committal service at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Pat was born November 20, 1931 in Montgomery, Alabama, the only child of Ernest Edward and Carlan Tolbert Hammond. She moved to Orlando at a young age and then moved to Albany, Georgia where she was the pianist for the Albany High School Glee Club and where she graduated in 1949. In 1954, she graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon. In 1973, Pat was a founding sponsor of the Georgia College Chapter of Phi Mu sorority. Later in life, she earned her nursing degree in 1990 and thoroughly enjoyed working with and caring for her patients over the years. She married Bob Klefeker in 1998 and resided in Saluda and later Hendersonville. In 2008, they moved to Newport, Tennessee.
Pat was a homemaker in every sense of the word. Throughout her many moves during her adult life, she always created a home for her family and a home that everyone wanted to visit. She will be remember by her four daughter as a mother who loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She was a true Southern lady.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Lewis Klefeker of Newport; her four daughters, Bonnie Littleton Carpenter and husband, Ed of Waco, Rebecca Littleton Sims of Rome, Georgia, Kathryn Littleton Monahan and husband, John of Greenville, South Carolina and Wendy Littleton Kinney of Waco; grandchildren, Greg Carpenter and wife, Julia of Dallas, Haley Carpenter of Austin, Will Carpenter of San Antonio, Karina Kinney of Waco and Charlie, Vick and Greer Sims all of Douglas, Georgia. She is also survived by her former husband of 36 years, the Rev. William Harvey Littleton of St. Simons Island, Georgia who was the Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco from 1977 until 1981.
