Patricia Morales

Born June 22, 1955 ~ Died November 19, 2023

Patti was born in Waco, Texas at Providence Hospital to Tomas “Tommy” Gonzales and Hortencia “Nancy” Gonzales.

Patti attended Waco ISD schools graduating from University High School, class of 1973. She graduated with an associate degree in Psychology from McLennan Community College in 1976.

Patti married the love of her life, Albert Morales, Jr., on June 24, 1978. They had their first child, Eric, in November of 1981 followed by their daughter, Jennifer, in March of 1984. Patti worked at the VA Hospital for a very short stint but soon realized that the job and degree was not for her. She then worked at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery store for a few years followed by Clarks Dept Store for a while. Patti was then hired by Rita Jones at the Waco McLennan County Library with the City of Waco. She worked as a library technician for 20+ years. After retiring from the city, she went on to work at the Waco High School Library for 3 years. After that, Patti was a stay-at-home mom helping to care for and raise many family and friends’ children in her home.

In April 2010, her first grandchild Brayden was born, followed by two more, Amelia in November of 2012 and Jaslynn in May of 2014. She took care of and helped raise them while their parents worked up until September of 2016, when Patti had a life altering stroke which left her with left-side paralysis. Three years after her stroke she developed breast cancer and fought a hard, tough fight through chemo and radiation, going into remission in 2020.

These past 3 years Patti did well and had many caregivers for her in her home. One in particular, Aloise Cole, cared for her for the last 3 years of her life. In August of 2023, Patti’s cancer had returned. She fought a short battle of illness until November when her body could no longer handle everything that had been thrown at it.

Patti was a very loving, strong, and independent woman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Gonzales. She is survived by her husband, Albert; son, Eric; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Dustin; and her 3 beautiful grandchildren, Brayden, Amelia, and Jaslynn, who she loved with all her heart. She is also survived by her father, Tommy; siblings, Sylvia, Bea, Margie, Mary, Edward, and Annette; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to give thanks to her caregivers, the staff at St. Catherine’s, Ascension Providence, and Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest.
