Dr. Patrick Duane Smithson, D.C., 49, went to be with The Lord on Friday, December 13, 2013. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Lake Shore Church of Christ, 2800 Lake Shore Drive, with Minister Ernie Christie officiating, followed by a graveside service at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2013 held at OakCrest Funeral Home at 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Pat was born in Waco, May 4, 1964 to Michael D. and Wanda (Hamil) Smithson. On Aug. 14, 1987 he married the love of his life, Jackie (Cummins) Martin. Pat graduated from Roosevelt High School-Lubbock TX; Sunset School of Preaching's Adventures In Missions (AIM) Missionary Program-Lubbock TX, McLennan Community College-Waco, TX, Parker Chiropractic College-Dallas TX, and Ulan Nutritional Systems-Clearwater, FL. Pat's love of missionary work led him to serve for over two years in Portugal. He continued to serve the Lord by teaching, helping, and loving every person who crossed his path. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jackie; mother, Wanda Smithson; daughters, Karen and husband Sam Matthews, Cyndie and husband Dean Pankonien; sisters, Mica Swanson and Joyce Basinger; brothers, Arron and Christopher Smithson; grandmother, Dorothy Hamil; grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Wallace, Heather Williams, Blake, Jessica, and Amie Pankonien; 5 great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, C.H. (Smitty) and Bernice M. Smithson; maternal grandfather, Major Leelon L. Hamil; and his father, Michael D. Smithson.
