Paul Dewitt Cathey, 83, of Speegleville, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, after battling cancer for two years.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Paul was born and raised in Oglesby, and he received a Presidential Citation while serving in the Army during WWII. A cement contractor for 38 years, Paul loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Wilson Cathey of Speegleville; son, Joe Cathey and wife Judy of Speegleville; two daughters, Paula Hill and husband, Monte of Aquilla, and Diane Sturgill of Seaside, Calif.; three brothers, Jack Cathey of Waco, Harold Cathey of China Spring, and Andy Cathey and wife Janice of Lane, Okla.; four grandsons, Paul Cathey, Joe Atkins Jr., and Jeff and Craig Sturgill; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Atkins, and Janice and Jessica Sturgill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
