Paul Irvin "Reb" Rebholz, 76, passed away at Providence Hospital in Waco on November 16, 2011 after a long battle with COPD and pancreatic cancer. Funeral Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 18 at the funeral home.
Born and raised in Reading, PA in 1935, Paul was the youngest son of Ruth and Paul Rebholz. He joined the US Air Force when he was seventeen and served for 22 years, stationed in Japan, Germany, France, California, and North Dakota throughout the years. In 1962 while at a bowling alley in Waco he met the love of his life, Shirley, and embarked on a whirlwind courtship that resulted in 48 years of blissful marriage and two beloved children. in 1977 the family moved back to Waco to be near to Shirley's family. Paul worked at the VA hospital in Waco for 28 years, where he made many friends. He was a member of the American Legion and loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas or Wendover with friends. After his retirement in 2005 he settled into a quiet life at home enjoying science fiction movies, crossword puzzles, and learning to master the internet. He was a man well known for his sense of humor, generosity, and charisma, and he will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael; sister, Nadine; mother and father-in-law Audrey and R.J. Scott.
Paul is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Lorri and Steve; granddaughters, Amanda and Danielle; sister Dorothy Bowers, sister-in-law, Eleanor Rebholz; brothers-in-law Bob Brady, Robert Scott, Leon Scott, and wife Francis; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind countless friends and comrades, and his cherished dog Audrey.
