Peggy Holcomb Kirkland

Peggy Holcomb Kirkland went home to be with Jesus on September 26, 2023.

She was born December 21, 1967, in Waco, Texas to Marvin and Wilma Rose Holcomb.

Peggy graduated from Connally High School. She spent 22 years following her passion and heart to care for others. Working in home health, she graciously loved and cared for many patients until their final days. She quickly became like family to all, and her bright light shined even in the darkest days for those she dearly loved.

She married Robin Kirkland on October 14, 2011. Rachael Kirkland and Amber Woody would quickly become her bonus children.

Peggy joins her dad Marvin, sister Marvajo Hayden, and brother Kenneth Holcomb, where they are sure to be spending their time telling jokes and laughing and doing some fishing as that was a favorite of hers. She also joins her grandparents, James and Linnie Mae Rose and James (Tobe) and Merle Holcomb and father-in-law, Thomas Kirkland.

Peggy leaves behind her husband, Rob; mother, Wilma Holcomb of Waco; sister, Barbara Taylor (Odie) of Lorena; brother, Mike Holcomb (Melinda) of Clifton; two bonus daughters, Rachael Kirkland, and Amber Woody; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Whitley. Also, to cherish her memories are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her furr baby Dixie misses her terribly.

Peggy’s kind spirit could be felt by anyone she met. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed…especially her laugh and sense of humor. Even in days when she was so sick, she always found something positive to be thankful for. She was an organ donor, and we find comfort in knowing that she lives on in the lives of others. As her health declined rapidly in her final weeks, she made sure to let those close to her know that “she will be alright.”

Please join Peggy’s family in celebrating her life on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. A visiting hour will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 PM at OakCrest Funeral Home at 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas 76710. A private family graveside will be held later.

The reason that we can have joy today is because of the reality of a God who is full of mercy, and because of the reality of a place called heaven. That is what Peggy would want to share with you.
