Phelps Grant Brookshire, born September 25th, 1939 in Gatesville, Tx; died January 13th, 2016 in Providence hospice, Waco,Tx.
He is survived by one brother, Broderick (Rick) Brookshire of Woodway, 3 sisters-in-law, Lois Brookshire of Woodway, Margaret Narovec of Woodway, and Rose Ann Washburn of Waco.
Phelps attended schools in Elm Mott and Connally High, but graduated from Killeen High in 1958. He graduated from Temple Jr. College, then joined the Navy in 1962. He served for two years then went back to college at Lamar University in Beaumont and graduated in 1966. He worked at an accounting firm in Dallas and in 1967 started to work for the I.R.S.
He married Mary Nell Narovec on March, 22nd 1969 in Waco.
He worked for the I.R.S. until he retired in 1996. He lived in Waco since 1967, but lived in Bruceville for about 16 years.
He was extremely fond of animals and gave time and donations to the animal shelter and Fuzzy Friends.
