Philip Harold Beatty, 82, of Woodway, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at his residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Grant Kaul officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Phil was born April 3, 1930 in Kobe, Japan to Harold Edwin and Elsie Louise (Mullen) Beatty. He attended grade school and high school in Long Island, N.Y. He attended Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, University of Illinois, Champaign, IL, and Texas A&M University. He worked at Philco Corp, Philadelphia, PA; RCA, Camden, NJ; LeTourneau University, Longview, TX; Northwestern College, Roseville, MN; and McLennan Community College, Waco, TX.
Phil married Alice Ruth Crawford in 1959. Phil was a loving husband and father who enjoyed teaching physics and math, as well as sharing his knowledge of the Bible in Sunday School classes and his church Fellowship Family. He also enjoyed learning new skills, such as developing a church web sites and mastering computer programs. His subtle sense of humor was well developed and enjoyed by family and friends who will miss him immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Beatty; and sister, Katherine Beatty.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Beatty; sons John Beatty and wife Suzanne; Robert Beatty and wife Kaye, Paul Beatty and wife Carol; and daughter, Barbara Gurka and husband, James; grandchildren, Kyle, Daniel, Elizabeth, Scott, Christopher, JohnMark, and Matthew Beatty; twin brother James Beatty and wife Lorraine; and sister, Betty Shorten and husband, Charlie.
The family expresses their thanks to Providence Hospice, and Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and Hospice for their loving Christian care.
