Phillip Bates

Phillip Earl Bates, 59, of Moody passed away Saturday. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Crest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Billy Pedigo officiating.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Santa Anna, Texas at the Santa Anna Cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bates was born in Santa Anna, Texas to Fred Bates and Ester Maroney Bates. He married Karen Kay Stone August 24, 1991 in Crawford.

Phillip was a Army veteran and worked for Allen Samuels in the parts department for 40 years. Mr. Bates became a Christian in 1967 in Coleman, Texas; he attended Baylor University and had a reputation as the best General Motors and Mercedes parts person in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Bates is survived by his wife Karen of Moody; son Matthew Storrs of Austin; sisters Carolyn Pricer and husband John of Crawford; brothers, Alton Bates and wife Rosa Lou of Andrews, Johnny Bates and wife Wanda of Abilene, Ronald Bates and wife Betty of Mart, daughters Thersea Delgado and husband Mike of Corpus Christi, Stephanie Bates of Abilene, Casey Killen and husband William of Ross, son Phillip Bryan Bates of Atlanta, Georgia and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, 4830 Lakewood Dr. Waco, Texas 76710.
