Quint Reed, 42, of Waco, passed away, Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Providence Health Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Art Trorphy officiating; burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Quint Reed was born on May 20, 1966. He was the second of two sons born to Donald Reford Reed and Mary Jane Reed.

At the time of his death, Quint had been living at St. Catherine's center for 3 years and 9 months. He was loved by the staff and greatly appreciated the care that all the staff members provided.

Prior to being at St. Catherine's, Quint worked in church maintenance at Austin Avenue United Methodist Church for 3 years. He enjoyed the work and people very much and enjoyed working for his boss Dave Stryker.

Quint was diligent, devoted to the task at hand and someone you could count on. He was greatly missed by his boss and church members after he was no longer able to work.

Quint enjoyed many outdoor activities when growing up. He especially enjoyed bike riding and fishing. He really enjoyed snow skiing on trips while he lived in Germany. Quint, his brother Troy, mother Mary Jane and step-father, Len Schlorman lived in Germany 1978-1981. Quint really loved German food. He was also very fond and proud of his Vespa moped he had while living in Germany.

Quint later took a liking to motorcycles. He liked to ride around on his Kawasaki. Quint also really looked forward to the day trips he took with his special friend, Paul Hocker. Quint was like a wonderful son to Paul. Quint had a love of nature and a fondness for animals. He especially loved border collies. At one time, he had one named "Princess" and a large pet python named "Babygirl".

Quint is survived by his brother Troy of Cedar Park, cousin Tim Herklotz and wife Elaine of Taylor and their children Tiffany and Matthew, cousin David Herklotz and wife Karen of Coppell and their children Natalie and Katie.

Quint is also survived by other family members and many wonderful friends, especially at Austin Avenue United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Schlorman and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Austin Ave. United Methodist Church.
