Rachael Vargas, 65, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, May 15, 2010 after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father Pius Matthew as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Monday, May 17, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by visitation with the family.

Rachael was born in Waco to Maria Vasquez and Carlos Vargas on March 26, 1945.

Preceding her in death were mother, Maria Vasquez; husband, Ben Carrasco; and brothers, Raymond Sanchez and Ernie Lugo.

Rachael is survived by her children: daughter, Gina Rodriguez of Waco; son, Ronald Vargas Sr. and wife Linda of Waco; sister, Lucy Lugo of Lancaster; brothers, David Sanchez of Waco, Johnny Sanchez and wife, Caroline of Waco, Andrew Sanchez and wife Jackie of Waco; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Michael Surita Sr., Anthony Surita, David Sanchez Jr., Bryan Vargas, Kevin Dawson, and Andrew Sanchez Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jaelyn Rodriguez and Jeremiah Rodriguez.
