Ralph Wayne Armstrong
March 26, 1930 – October 30, 2015
Ralph Wayne Armstrong, 85, of Waco passed away Friday, October 30, 2015, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, at Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ, 2800 Lake Shore Drive, with Ernie Christie officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, November 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Ralph was born March 26, 1930, in Abilene, TX and was lovingly adopted at 3 days old by his parents, Kyle and Stella Faye (Rasco) Armstrong. He married Lea Norris on February 14, 1959, in Sacramento, CA. Ralph was part of the last graduating class of Abilene Christian College, before it became Abilene Christian University, from where he continued his education and earned his Master’s Degree. Ralph served his country in the United States Air Force and retired as a Major. He was a Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) while in the military. He also was an educator in the Texas Public School System for more than 15 years, teaching math and science. Ralph was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put God and his family first. He was a faithful member of the Lord’s church, serving as a deacon and elder for many years. He will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 54 years, Lea Armstrong.
Ralph is survived by his children, Faye Armstrong-Paap of Odessa, Beth Armstrong of College Station, Wayne Armstrong and wife, Silvia of Royse City; and Ruth Combs and husband, Jonathan of Waco; seven grandchildren, Connor Armstrong, Harrison Armstrong, Isabella Armstrong, Molly Combs, Suzanna Paap, Kailey Combs and Darian Combs; and one great-grandchild, Noah Willemse of Holland.
