Ralph Irland Harwell, 93, of Waco, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 20, 2005.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Ernie Christie officiating. Burial will be in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Ralph was born in Johnson County to William and Bonnie (Cottle) Harwell. He married Mollie Oswald on November 12, 1934, and they were married almost 67 years. She preceded him in death on October 9, 2001.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was stationed in Hawaii and California. He worked in the auto paint and body shop for Steakley Brothers until his retirement.
He was a charter member of the Lake Shore Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 17 years. He was a loving father and grandfather who steadfastly provided the spiritual leadership for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Joy Polster of Waxahachie and Virginia Corley of Waco; sister, Edna Pollard of Cleburne; brother, Jack Harwell of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.
