Rebecca Susan Barnett, of Waco, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 26 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the OakCrest Funeral Home.
Rebecca was born May 16, 1955 in Chickasha, OK. to James and Virgie (Moody) Putnam. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.

Rebecca married Mike Barnett on April 19, 1979. Their marriage of 31 years was a source of support and strength for both of them. She was the proud mother of two daughters and a loving and attentive grandmother.

Service to the less fortunate was the highlight of her career before retirement. She served several years with the American Red Cross in Waco and was former manager for the Salvation Army Boothe Garden Apartments.

Rebecca considered service to the community equally important. She was a former youth leader for Central United Methodist Church in Waco, led a Brownie troop in San Antonio, and headed up numerous fund-raising drives for the March of Dimes and other organizations.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virgie.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Mike Barnett; daughters, Mitzi Scott and husband, Joseph of Garland and Amanda Middleton and husband, John of Waco; father, James Putnam; sister, Cathy Kelley; four grandchildren, Bryson, Benjamin, Tristan and, Baylee.
