Rebecca Chavez Ochoa, age 77, of Waco, passed away on April 15, 2025 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX surrounded by loved ones.
Rebecca was born in Waco, Texas, to Manuel and Tina Chavez on March 22, 1948. She graduated from University High School in 1966 and attended college at Texas Women’s University. She devoted the majority of her career to working as a Marketing Secretary, culminating in her final position at Tymco. Rebecca spent her retirement years with her family, particularly enjoying time with her grandchildren.
Rebecca was married to Jesse Ochoa, the love of her life. She was the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of four grandchildren. Rebecca was deeply devoted to her family, serving as a pillar of strength and demonstrating unconditional love, resilience, and courage.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Tina Chavez; and her sister, Gloria Diaz.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Jesse Ochoa; beloved daughters, Leslie Alvarado and Jessica Arreola (Anthony); Grandchildren, Emily Alvarado, Michael Alvarado, Kennedy Arreola and Kannon Arreola; and sister, Dolores Martin (Terry)
Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, Waco. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 23, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church, Waco, with Father Benji Magnaye officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco. Arrangements by OakCrest Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Michael Alvarado, Anthony Arreola, Adrian Hurtado, Gavin Hurtado, Santiago Ochoa and Carlos Riojas. Honorary Pallbearer is Kannon Arreola.
Rebecca, affectionately referred to as Becky, was a significant presence in the lives of those who had the honor of knowing her. Her life was characterized by love, compassion, and a steadfast faith. She demonstrated a consistently cheerful and positive demeanor, coupled with a humble and gentle spirit. Rebecca held the beloved roles of both mother and grandmother. She was renowned for her remarkable sense of humor, strong determination, and nurturing nature. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Baylor Scott and White hospital in Temple for their excellent care of Becky.
