Reuben John Arndt, Sr., 78, of Waco, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006, in a Waco hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 7, at the OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Price officiating. His niece, Judy Morrow, will be the soloist for the funeral service. Burial with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery in Durango, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.

Mr. Arndt was born June 25, 1928 in Durango to Theodore A. and Mary Molly (Meyer) Arndt. He served in the Military Police in the Army during Korea. He married Allene Meier on February 10, 1955 in Temple.

He was a machine operator at Owens-Illinois where he worked 36 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, and going to his farm.

He is survived by his wife, Allene Arndt of Waco; son, Reuben J. Arndt, Jr. and wife, Karen of Waco; daughters, Debra Lynn Van Horn and husband, Hal of San Diego, Cal, and Michelle Nelson and husband, Mickey of Axtel; grandson, Chad Ray Arndt of Waco; granddaughters, Davanna Marie Nealy and husband, Michael of Waco, and Millie Larissa Van Horn of San Diego; great-grandson, Michael David Nealy of Waco; brother, Bill Arndt of Marlin, and Ted Arndt and wife, Evelyn Marie of Lott; sister, Shirley Alley of Garland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Erwin Childs, Alvin Ray Herzog, Michael Nealy, Edward Ramirez, Mark Vohl, and Dwight Wilson.

Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
