Lt. Col. Richard Marvin Kizer, 90, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2006, in a Waco hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Richard Rust officiating.

Richard was born June 11, 1915 in Grandview, Wisc. to Jacob and Lucinda (Campbell) Kizer. He had a distinguished service in the U.S. Army for 28 years before retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1962. He served in both World War II and Korea. He was the Army Liaison Officer for the 12th Headquarters for many years. After his military career, he worked at Montgomery Wards in Waco for 15 years. He was a 60 year member of the Herring Masonic Lodge, and was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner.

He was married February 21, 1942 to Geraldean R. King at Ft. Benning, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; niece, Mary Helen Scott of Indianatlantic, Fla.; grand niece, Judith K. Blair and husband, Jim of Satellite Beach, Fla., and their children, Jeffrey Blair, Kimberly Helm and Kalli Helm.

The family would like to thank the Hillcrest Hospital SICU, the 7th floor staff, hospice team, and Drs. Kasorek and Brickey.

There will be no formal visitation, but friends may come by OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday for viewing and to sign the memorial guestbook.
