Richard Shapland

Richard Shapland, 79, of Waco passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Waco VA Hospital. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at 2 pm at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 27 from 5 to 7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Richard was born September 20, 1937 in Livermore, California. He served his country for nearly 23 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a TSGT. Richard married the love of his life, Betty Jean Kaluza on February 8, 1964 in Waco. They enjoyed 49 wonderful years together before she went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2013.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Margaret Shapland, his sisters, and his beloved wife, Betty.

He leaves behind his daughter, Denise Ann Shapland Gattis and her husband, Bobby and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
