Richard Bruce Skains, 75, of Waco, passed away June 27, 2013. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Woodway First United Methodist Church.
A private inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Richard was born November 2, 1937 in Houston. After graduating from Castlemont High School in Oakland, Ca. in 1956, he attended University of Houston for several years and worked for the City of Houston. He worked at the Bank of the Southwest for 20 years, then worked later at M-Tech and EDS until 1999. He came to Waco where he served as Records Supervisor for the Waco Police Department from 1999 until his illness.
Richard married Sharla Sevar in 1965 in Houston. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren most of all. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping. He was a member of Woodway United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Skains.
He is survived by his wife, Sharla; twin sons, Richard B. Skains Jr. and wife Gabi and Robert B. Skains and wife Carla; daughter, Laurie Ann Fleet and husband, Dez; grandchildren, Payton Skains, Richard B. Skains III, Robert B. Skains III, Victoria Skains, Ella M. Fleet, Aidan B. Fleet, and Tristan B. Fleet; sister, Helen Jean Ferrari; and numerous nieces and nephews.
