Richard A. Travis, 58, of Robinson, died early Sunday morning, January 19, 2003, while playing with a local band at the Beaumont Ranch near Hillsboro.
SERVICES
A military graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco with the Rev. Steve Watson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, at OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial videotape of his life will be shown during visitation. OakCrest Funeral Home is located right across the street from the Heart of Texas Fair Complex.
PERSONAL LIFE
Richard was born December 8, 1944 in Waco, the son of the late Thomas E. and Ruby Mae Nowlin Travis. During the Korean War, he proudly served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington.
He was a akilled jeweler and goldsmith with the Curtis Cox Manufacturing Co. in Waco. He and his wife Ginger were married October 16, 1989 in Valley Mills.
WELL-KNOWN MUSICIAN
Richard was well-known as a talented musician and singer who played several musical instruments. He really enjoyed playing lead guitar for local bands, especially country and western groups.
SURVIVORS
He is survived by his wife, Ginger Travis of Robinson; a daughter, Rachelle Baulbwitz and her husband Bill of Henderson, Ark.; a step-daughter, Wendy Ainsworth and her husband Cody of Valley Mills; a step-son, Mark Southern and his finance Stephanie of Valley Mills; grandsons, Dusty and Randy of Valley Mills; a granddaughter, Jacee Grace Ainsworth of Valley Mills; three brothers, Charles Travis of Tyler, Edward Travis of Dallas, and Herbert Travis of DeSoto; and two uncles, Robert M. Nowlin of Waco and James C. Nowlin of Blue Ridge, Texas.
LIGHT OF HIS LIFE...
The light of his life was his precious granddaughter Jacee whom he loved dearly. They enjoyed spending many special moments together, especially watching Barney. He will be greatly missed by her, and by his family.
