Riley C. Ridgell
December 13, 1931 – July 6, 2014
Some people think a super hero is someone who wears a cape or has some sort of super powers but a true hero is a man like Riley Clarence Ridgell of Hewett who passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at age 82. He has asked to be cremated and not to have any services so we are respecting his wishes.
The following are the two loving tributes from his grandsons.
From Daniel Wood: Papaw worked as an electrician for the local union for many years here in Waco where he never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face to share with everyone. He was the rock for his family and was the greatest Husband, Dad, Papaw, and Great Papaw that there ever was. There is no doubt that he will be missed each and every day. For the people’s lives whom he touched I know that they grieve with us, but that's not what Papaw would want. He would want everyone just to laugh and remember the great times and memories that they made with him. So as we lay him to rest let us remember OUR superhero.
From Mitchel Wood: On this quiet Sunday morning God’s Angels came and took my grandpa far away up to Heaven to his final resting place. But in the stillness of this night, I can almost hear him say: 'Mitchel I will miss you tons but I will always be in your heart. Please take good care of your grandmother for she carries my love in her heart. You mean so much to me and I’m sorry I had to go but Jesus called to me, and said he needed me by his side. I’m in heaven which is a place of God's great beauty no tears, no pain, no earthly cares, only peace love and joy, so please remember all the good times we have had through the years and don't you dare think about the sad. Don’t cry no tears for me. Just remember what I've taught you and always make life fun, and if you trust in Jesus I can promise you this and more you'll get a big hug from Papaw when I meet you at Heaven’s door.”
In his death he leaves behind a wife of 63 years, two daughters, three grandkids, and four great-grandkids.
