R.L. Braziel
March 24, 1928 – August 22, 2008
R.L. Braziel, 80, of Waco, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday August 27, at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
R.L. was born March 24, 1928 to Luther and Mable Braziel. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1945 and served as a Master Sergeant (MSGT) in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 until 1955, spending most of his time in Japan.
He was married to Helen Jackson and had a son, Les Braziel. While in the Air Force he received technical training as an electrician.
After being honorably discharged, he continued learning the electrical trade. He earned his master electrician license and started Braziel Electric and worked daily until his retirement in 2000. His son, Les Braziel, joined his dad at Braziel Electric in 1973 and continues to run the family business today.
Anyone who knew R.L. knew that he worked hard and played hard. He loved hunting, deep-sea fishing and an occasional trip to Las Vegas with his running buddies, but nothing could compare to his love of dancing. He could Texas two-step and waltz better than most professional and he never lacked for a dance partner.
He is survived by his son, Les Braziel and wife, Pam of Robinson; grandson, Chris Braziel and wife, Tina of Lorena; and two great granddaughters Ashley and Bradyn of Lorena.
Our family would like to thank Hazel Porter who was a long time companion of R.L.'s and with her complete devotion to him, his last days on this earth where filled with gentleness, kindness, and unconditional love.
