Robert Brooks

Robert (Bob) Joe Brooks, Jr., 89, of Waco, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 9, 2013 with his grandson, Chris Hampe, by his side. Following private interment on Saturday, May 18, 2013, the Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 14th Street and Washington Avenue, in Waco. A Memorial Mass, celebrated by Reverend Angelo Bertini, will follow the Rosary. A luncheon will be served in St. Mary's Parish Hall after the Memorial Mass.

Bob was born in Waco on December 1, 1923, to Robert Joe Brooks and Emma Parrott Brooks. He graduated from Waco High School in 1942. He married Lorraine Bohler Brooks, in St. Virgil's Catholic Church in New Jersey, on November 25, 1945. He served in the military service during WWII. He worked for SW Bell Telephone Co and then spent many years in the Ready-Mix Concrete business. He was a devoted member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and St. Mary's Men's Club. He was a Third-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1358 and a Fourth-degree member of the Msgr. J. J. Kearns Assembly #1190, and he faithfully attended meetings and participated in fraternal activities. He was a life member of the Auxiliary of Providence Health Center and a member of Historic Waco Foundation.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 65 years, Lorraine; son, Robert (Robin) Joe Brooks III, his parents, and sister Martha Brooks Barton.

Surviving Robert are his daughter-in-law, Donna Hampe; five grandchildren, Chris, Laura, Shelly, Lisa, and Travis, and their families plus nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Rose Eary.
