Robert Willard Mansfield, 79, of Waco, passed away Saturday, March 8. Cremation was arranged by OakCrest Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Apostolic Tabernacle at 6009 N 19th by Pastor Steven Daywitt. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Fort Hood.

Robert was born in Woodstock, IL to Albert and Carrie (Westphal) Mansfield. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Afterward, he married Velma Smith in Waco on June 13, 1951. For 23 years he was a supervisor for the State Highway Department.

He was a loving husband and father who never knew a stranger. He adored his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and they loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ray Lynn Mansfield, and three brothers, Harry, William and George Mansfield.

Sons, Gary Albrecht of Rockford, IL, Robert W. Mansfield of Ft. Meyers, FL, and James Mansfield and wife Kimberly of Austin, and Thomas Mansfield of Austin;

Daughter, Judy Mathews of Waco;

Grandchildren, Carolyn Borak and husband, Kenneth of Missouri City, Kristin Mathews and fiance Michael Vineyard of Waco, Robert Mansfield, and Amanda Mansfield, both of Austin;

Two great-grandchildren, Larissa and Haden Borak of Missouri City;

Two brothers, Albert Mansfield and wife Eugenia of Wisconsin, and Charles Mansfield and wife Shirley of Illinois.
