Robert Bruce Stewart, 74, of Waco, Texas, passed away on December 15, 2023. He was born on August 1, 1949, in Waco, Texas. Robert, lovingly known as Bruce, was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Bruce is survived by his daughter, Tracie Hunt; his sons, Robert Beau Stewart and Dustin Wayne Stewart; his grandchildren, Kourtney Hunt and Ryan Hunt; his great-grandchildren, Kaiden Hunt and Kaylani Hunt; his brother, Randy Stewart (Terry); his sister, Marsha Abood (Gary); and his sister, Margaret Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Mickey" and Ruth Stewart.
Bruce graduated from University High School in Waco where he enjoyed sports and later served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He proudly served his country and made valuable contributions during his military service.
After his military service, Bruce embarked on a career as a Switchman at MKT Railroad. He was skilled and dedicated to his work, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with. Many of his railroad friends called him “Catfish”.
In his free time, Bruce enjoyed fishing, junking at the Junky Monkey, enjoying a good burger and Dr. Pepper at Cupps, and trying his luck with scratch-off lottery tickets. His favorite pastime was watching the Dallas Cowboys, the World Series Champion Texas Rangers, and the Baylor Bears. These hobbies brought him joy and relaxation throughout his life.
A ceremony to honor Bruce's life will be held at Oakcrest Funeral Home, located at 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX on Thursday, December 21st @ 12:00 p.m. The visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The interment will take place at Rosemound Cemetery, located at 3201 S 12th, Waco, TX.
