Bob Vickery, 82, of Waco, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at a local hospital. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Father Albert Laforet officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.

Bob was born Aug. 1, 925, in Limestone County to H.C. and Ima Bates Vickery. He moved to Waco as a small child. He graduated from Waco High School and Baylor University earning his BBA followed by his CPA. After serving in the Navy in WWII, Bob returned to Waco and worked at the local newspaper for a brief time.

Prior to entering private practice in 1961, he worked for the former Upleger and Company. Bob retired from private practice in 2002 due to failing health. He served as president of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, Central Texas Chapter of CPAs, and was treasurer of several other organizations. He was a 50-year Scottish Rite, Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed ballroom dance and music from the Big Band Era. Bob and his wife Gustine of 60 years belonged to several dance clubs.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill of Pasadena; his son Larry of Waco.

He is survived by his wife, Gustine Vickery of Waco; son, Ronald Vickery and wife, Marla of Tucson, AZ; sister, Mary Willis and husband, Everett L. of Waco; grandchildren, Tiffany Orsak and husband, Dan, Lara Gough and husband, Eric, Eden Vickery, Shawn Vickery, Robin Vickery; and three great -grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dan Orsak, Vince Orsak, Everett Willis, Danny Wright, Rodney House, and Gary Coker. Honorary pallbearer is Charles Butler.

Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or the Charity of your choice.
