Roderick Ernest Brown, 50 of Hewitt passed away Saturday December 11, 2004 at home. Memorial services will be 5pm Friday December 17, 2004 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. Rev. Tim Ayers will officiate.
Rod was born on August 22, 1954 in Chicago, Ill to Walter and Mildred (Branch) Brown. He attended schools in Chicago and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1973, where he made all state in football and wrestling. Roderick attended Chicago State before serving in the U.S. Army where he served as a medic. After Rod served his tour of duty he later graduated from MCC School of Nursing. He had a long career in the nursing field at Hillcrest, Providence and the VA hospitals in Waco.
He married Paula McLennan on March 4, 1977 in Waco. They were married twenty seven years and had one daughter Quinelle Brown.
Rod had a passion for sports. He played softball, basketball and golf. He really enjoyed going to see the Chicago Cubs when they played the Houston Astros.
He is survived by his wife Paula and daughter Quinelle of Hewitt; sister, Quinell (Ray) Brown on Dallas; brothers, Allus Brown of Chicago, Ill and Neville Brown and wife Karen of Charlotte, NC; nephews, Desjinal Brown and wife Eva of Mesquite and Neville Brown, Jr. of Pensacola, Fl.
Rod enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
