Ronald Allison

Ronald Lewis Allison moved to Heaven on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, surrounded by family and friends. A celebration service will be held at Antioch Community Church, 510 N. 20th, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. Internment with military honors will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bosqueville Cemetery, 7327 Rock Creek Road, Waco. Visitation will be 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Ron was born October 27, 1943 in Clarendon, Texas to Ray and Billie (Marshall) Allison. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School and went into the Navy. After the military, he graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a degree in math and religion. He served as education director at Town East Baptist Church in Dallas, and then he and his first wife, Evie, moved to Waco when he was hired by the VA Regional Office. Ron was widowed shortly after coming to Waco. He met and married Penny Peach in 1975. After retiring from the VA, he went back to work at the Texas Veterans Commission and was working there at the time of his illness and death.

Ron came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a child and followed Him all the days of his life. He served as a deacon and elder at Highland Baptist Church and was one of the original members of Antioch Community Church, where he served in many ways.

Ron enjoyed wood working, traveling, and stamp collecting and was a member of the local Stamp Club.

He is survived by Penny, his wife of 37 years; daughter, Sunni Barnes and her husband Brad and their daughter Kayli; son, Charlie; brothers Jim Allison and his wife, Sandy; Rick Allison and his wife, Judy; and sister, Becky Chapa and her partner Deb O'Connor, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ron lived his life with a deep faith in the sovereignty of God and His care over His children. He so enjoyed serving others. We who love him are comforted by his life verse in these days, “We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose.”

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Antioch Community Church Building Fund.
