Ronald (Ronnie) Stephens, 76, of Robinson, TX, passed away on November 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, November 12. Celebration of his life will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 13, at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas with Bishop David Fuller officiating.
Ronnie was born January 1, 1947, in Waco, Texas to Henry and Mattie Stephens. He was the youngest of eleven children. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Deborah, his son Ronnie Stephens Jr. and wife, Kelly, daughter Misty Huffhines, Shannon Hickman and wife, Patsy, Joey Hickman, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mattie Stephens; brothers, H.C. “Bud”, W.C. “Dub”, Roy, Coy, A.D. “Abby”, and Darrell Stephens;; sisters, Eva Allen, Oma Fay “Doodle” Carrigan, Geraldine Brewer, and Gladys Marie Custer; and granddaughter, Peyton Huffhines.
Ronnie never met a stranger and was known for his teddy bear hugs. He was a gentle giant with the kindest heart and always carried a warm smile. He loved his family and was quick to brag on his kids and grandkids. His grandkids and great-grandson were his pride and joy. Ronnie loved going to their sporting events and extracurricular activities. He was so excited to go watch their games that he would beat the team bus to the fields or gyms. He was everyone’s biggest fan and supporter.
He had a special gift of making everyone smile and laugh. He liked to joke and cut up with those he loved. He left behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He faithfully served the Lord and left behind a spiritual legacy for his family. He will be deeply missed, but always celebrated and remembered.
