Ronald Olan Walker , 74, of Mabank, formerly of Waco, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at the M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
The services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Bryan Collins officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 11, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas.
Ronald was born in Waco on July 17, 1934 to Lee and Frances (Simkins) Walker.
After graduating from Temple High School, he received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Texas and a Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of North Texas.
Ronald was a Technical Writer at the Lockheed-Martin Corporation, and his last project was with the B-2 Bomber.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Baptist church.
He married Janice Jewell in Waco in 1954. He was also an assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by: his wife, Janice Jewell Walker; son, Ronald N. Walker and wife, Julie, daughters Linda Garretson and husband, Charles, Patricia Jones and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Alicia Underwood and husband, Bill, Matthew Garretson, Brent Walker, Timothy Walker, Andrew Jones, and Daniel Jones; three great-grandchildren, Pruett, Piper, and Michael.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandson-in-law.
