Ronnie Bruce, 56, of Crawford, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 26, 2006 in Waco, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, at the Crawford High School Gym with Mr. John Rainey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bosqueville Cemetery at Waco (near the intersection of Rock Creek Road and Steinbeck Bend Road).

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. (Across from the Heart of Texas Fair Grounds). A memorial video honoring his life will be shown continuously during the visitation times.

Ronnie was born October 22, 1949 in Mexia to James D. and Nella (Carlton) Bruce. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1968, and University of Texas in Arlington in 1977. He was the head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Crawford High School.

For 26 years, he touched the lives of Crawford students. He was proud of the Crawford Pirates, especially after the team won the state football championship in 2004. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, and the kids at Crawford High School.

He was a member and elder at the Southside Church of Christ in Robinson. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Bruce.

He loved his church and his family, especially his grandchildren who lovingly called him PaPa.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Henson Bruce of Crawford; two sons, Joshua M. Bruce and wife, Misti of Speegleville, and Daniel R. Bruce of Crawford; two grandsons, Landry E. Bruce and Kade W. Bruce, both of Speegleville; mother, Nella Carlton Bruce of Speegleville; brothers, Donnie Bruce and wife, Melinda of Crawford, and Johnny Bruce and wife, Cindy of Magnolia; sister, Connie Fuller and husband, Bob of Speegleville; Bill Bruce of Alice; uncles, Tom Carlton and wife, Dorothy of Waco and Bobby Driver of Mexia; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Bruce, Johnny Bruce, Bob Fuller, Adam Fuller,
Joe Rubel, Dustin Bruce, Devin Bruce, and Justin Henson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Crawford coaching staff.

Memorials may be made to the Southside Church of Christ or to the Crawford Scholarship Fund.

The family especially thanks the Crawford community for their support during this time.
