Ronnie Scarborough, better known as "Carpetman", passed away August 15, 2011 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Price officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with his family will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Ronnie was born October 12, 1945 in Waco to L. A. Scarborough and Dorothy Bailey Scarborough. He attended Waco schools and served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Isle Royale AD- 29, a Shenandoah-class destroyer tender named for an island of the Great Lakes. Ronnie was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Waco. He loved his classic cars and drag racing. He was part owner of Carpet Country in both Mexia and Corsicana.
He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Louis Scarborough; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Belcher.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Angela Belcher of Elm Mott; daughter, Angelora Fife and husband, Andrew of Waco; son, James Leslie Belcher of Bastrop; one grandson, Tyler Massey; his mother, Dorothy Prebosnyak of China Spring; two sisters, Carol Martin of Channelview and Lynda McCown and husband, Bill of China Spring; and many lifelong friends.
