Rosa Peres Cortez, 100, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at St. Catherine Center after a long illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at OakCrest Funeral Home by Deacon Jessie C. Garza. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary Service will be 6 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, followed by visitation with the family.



Rosa Cortez was born February 29, 1912, in Lockhart to Victor Cortez and Pabla Peres Cortez.



She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Patrocina Cortez Valdez and Mary Cortez Gaige; and brothers, Victor, Enrique, Juan, Pablo, Pedro and Leonardo Cortez; and sons, Victor Rey Rios and Martin Isadore Cortez.



She is survived by brother, Adolfo Peres Cortez and wife, Orelia of Port Arthur; daughters, Ofelia Hernandez of Waco; Martha Warwick of Bartlett, Tn.; Rosie Rosales Ortega of Houston, and husband, Jessie F.; Candelaria (Connie) Lopez of Hewitt; and son, John Henry Cortez of Waco. She is survived by 30 grandchildren, Robert, Gloria, Michael, James, Mary, Marina, Jessie, Donald, Norma, Rosalind, Randy, Rudy, Ricky, Delfina, Delia, Richard, Ronnie, Lisa, Isabella, David, Alexander, Stella, Martha, Joseph, Carrie, Courtney, Martin, Eric, and Jacquelyn; 42 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great grandchildren.
