Rose Dlabay Johnson, 78, of Waco, went home to be with The Lord Thursday, October 25, 2012. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Rose was born November 30, 1933 in Chriesman, Texas to the late Annie Fillip and Joe Steve Dlabay. Rose attended school in LaMarque. She married Bill Johnson September 5, 1951 and they had four children, Cindy Parker and husband, Doug, C. R. Johnson, III, Jerry Johnson and wife, Becky, Lori Allen and her husband, Kenny Rose married Joseph Sanders March 1, 1973. A daughter, Dawn Farquhar, was born of this union. In 1981, Rose and Dawn moved to the Metroplex area where she began her employment with the Boy Scouts of America Headquarters in Irving where she retired in May 1997. Rose returned with her daughter, Dawn, to her hometown, Waco. Rose’s favorite hobbies were family gatherings, dancing, traveling, painting and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Daniel Dlabay; her second husband, Joseph Sanders; as well as Patches and Oreo, her beloved cats.

Rose is survived by her five children; her sister, Carol Holder and husband, Jim; 13 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic at Providence Health Center for their care of Rose and to Dawn’s associates at UPS for their love and support. A special note of appreciation is extended to Rose’s friends and neighbors at Westwood Villa Apartments and especially to Tommy Tull for his special care and compassion and in making Rose’s last days peaceful.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association in Rose Johnson’s memory.
