Rosemary Witt

Rosemary Witt, 65, of Waco, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at her residence after a three year struggle with cancer. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at OakCrest Funeral Home with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Rosemary was born August 16, 1947 in Waco and was the oldest of six children of Rembert and Marie Krizan Murphy. She dedicated her life to Christ as a young girl and was a lifelong member of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. Rosemary graduated from Richfield High School in 1965. She married Franklin L. Witt December 20, 1965 at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. She traveled the United States with Franklin who served in the United States Air Force. Both of their daughters were born while they were stationed in the Philippines. Later, they returned to Waco where Rosemary worked as a buyer for Cox’s Department Store. In 1981, Rosemary and Franklin moved to San Benito, Texas to serve as house parents and later as administrators at Sunny Glen Children’s Home. Upon returning back to Waco in 1989, Rosemary became the Church secretary at Columbus Avenue, a position she held until her death. Following the death of Franklin, Rosemary also taught defensive driving and driver’s education, eventually becoming a district manager at Austin Driving School. She dedicated her life to service to others and put Christ first in everything she did. Rosemary taught Sunday school, the Ladies’ Bible Classes, worked with the youth group, coordinated yearly Vacation Bible School and coached Leadership Training for Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; her father, Rembert; brothers, Rembert Murphy, Jr., and Henry Murphy; and her father-in-law, Ben Witt.

Rosemary is survived by her daughters, Erlinda Witt and Merie Fregia and husband, James; grandson, Ryan Bounphasaysol; her mother, Marie; sisters, “Moose” Kultgen, Patsy Dellinger and husband, Dale and Linda Milligan and husband, Ed; mother-in-law, Kate Witt; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cherished cats, Norton and Giselle.
