Ruben Vela, Sr., 64, passed away on Tuesday April 27, 2021. Memorial services will be at graveside on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:00 am, at Oakwood Cemetery, with Deacon Antonio (Tony) Arocha officiating.
Ruben was born in Waco, Texas to Ignacio Hernandez and Maria Paz (Garcia) Vela. He attended Waco schools and was active in sports.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, and sister, Pat Ortiz.
Ruben is survived by his children; Ruben Vela, Jr. of Temple, Texas, Gabriella Meischen of Killeen, Texas and Savannah Vela of Denton, Texas. His sister, Doloris Garcia Prieto and husband Henry of San Antonio, Texas and brother, Ignacio Cruz Vela and wife Amanda of Waco, Texas, uncles; Cruz Garcia and wife Pauline of Temple, Texas and Manuel Patena and wife Betty of Waco, Texas; well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
