Ruby Lee was born May 31, 1918 to Will and Mattie Hommel in Otto, TX. She married her childhood sweetheart, Rudolph W. Klatt, on May 22, 1940; they celebrated 56 years of marriage before Rudolph’s death in November of 1996. Together, they raised two sons, Ralph and Ronnie, faithfully following them throughout many years of baseball.
Ruby was a longtime volunteer at Providence Hospital and Central United Methodist Church. She was a loyal Lady Bears fan. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Forever remembered will be her faithfulness in all things, her talent and creativity, her unending hospitality, her generosity of spirit and remarkable ability to relate to people. We are grateful for Ruby’s loving touch and gift of listening, and that she was, for each and every one of us, a true friend.
She is survived by sons, Ralph Klatt and wife, Linda, of Fort Mill, SC; Ronnie Klatt and wife, Barbara, of China Spring, TX; three granddaughters, Kate Klatt Miller and husband, Stephen, of Charlotte, NC, Robyn Lynn Klatt Areheart and husband, Brad, of Knoxville, TN, Kelley Michele Klatt Copley and husband, Cody, of Clifton, TX; and eight great-grandchildren, Braden, Aubrey, and Julia Miller; Carolina, Colt, Scout, and West Areheart; and Chandler Copley.
The family would like to give special thanks to Providence Hospice of Waco for their love and care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 5740 Bagby Ave, Waco, TX 76712, or Providence Hospice Place, 6700 Sanger Ave. Waco, TX 76710.
