Rudolph G. (Rudy) Espinoza, 78, of Waco, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Solar as celebrant.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by visitation with the family. Rudy was born March 31, 1930 in Marlin to Pete and Frances (Gonzales) Espinoza. He married Gloria Lugo April 21, 1974 in Waco. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was active in the Apostalode.

Rudy served in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring in 1968 as a staff sergeant. Afterwards, he attended Hill Junior College and graduated with a degree in food service management. He then worked for Beverly Enterprises, Greenview Manor Nursing Home, Regis Center and Boys Ranch as a food service supervisor.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Victorio Espinoza, Fernando Espinoza, and Ramon Espinoza; a sister, Ciprana Tovar, and a brother-in-law, Ray Lugo.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gloria; a son, Paul Edward Rivera of Londale, CA.; daughters, Venessa Rodriguez and Bernice Rivera; his beloved grandchildren, Joe Jamie Vela, Matthew Vela. Benjamin Garza, Monique Melandez, and Arianna Rivera, all of Waco; sisters, Trine Espinoza of Chicago and Delores Espinoza of San Antonio; brothers-in-law, Robert Lugo and wife Vera of Canyon Lake and Johnny Lugo of San Antonio; sisters-in-awl, Niolaza Altamirano of Santa Clara, CA., Glorferia Majalca and husband Frank of Austin, Adelpha Garcia and husband Dario of El Paso, Sylvia Blanco and husband Albert of San Angelo, and Sally Lugo of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thank you to niece Cynthia Walker and her family and Bobby and Richard Espinoza.

Gone is the love of my life. Gone is the father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren who was loved and respected. We will miss you and remember you for the rest of our lives. Rest in peace and suffer no more, from your wife, children and grandchildren.
