Ruth Jaeger

Ruth Jaeger went to sleep in Jesus on Wednesday, June 26,
2002 at the age of 83 in a local nursing home. She lived out her
Christian faith in the Lutheran Missouri Synod churches when her
family lived in the Midwest and the South. Her family released her
from this world's hold so she could step into eternity where there's no
sorrow and no pain. Her life celebration memorial services will be held
at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002, at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Walter F. Albers of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Who was Ruth Jaeger? Daughter, wife, mother and
grandmother. She was born on July 28, 1918 to Adam & Pauline Schaffer
Neuharth in Alpena, South Dakota. She was married to Wilbert
Jaeger for 28 years until his death in 1968. Ruth is survived by son,
Dennis and his wife Linda Jaeger of Hewitt and daughter,
Belinda and her husband Larry Giddens of Atlanta, Georgia;
grandsons, Derek Jaeger of San Angelo and Charles and his
wife Vanessa Giddens of Snellville, Georgia. Surviving brothers are
Reinhold and wife Viola Neuharth of Eugene, Oregan and Calvin and
wife Esther Neuharth of Alpena, South Dakota. Also, many nieces
and nephews in South Dakota and Minnesota and many lifetime
friends in Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, Georgia, Florida and
Texas. She was preceded in death by husband Wilbert Jaeger at
Minneapolis, Minnesota and sister Leone Jenssen Parker of
Woonsocket, South Dakota.
Many relatives and friends will have cherished memories of
their friendships with Ruth. Because she loved to cook or bake a new
recipe, Ruth would have some friends over for dinner just so she had
a reason to cook. Or Roy would be excited to get a call to come by
and pick up some fresh-baked goodies when he left the firehouse.
Charles and Derek, her two grandsons, will have many
remembrances of Grandma. They were probably too young to
remember how she would let them teethe or play with her silver
bracelet in church to keep them from disturbing others. But, they will
remember the many times that they knelt in the kitchen chair at her
table of sugar cookie cutouts and helped decorate the candy canes,
Santa faces, stars and Christmas trees. Or the life stories that
Grandma would tell them over and over. Or the trips down to the
lake to feed the beautiful Mallard ducks when they visited Grandma in
Tallahassee.
Ruth trained in floral design after she became a young widow
and moved to Georgia in 1968. Her many floral creations blessed so
many in Albany and Tallahassee, Florida. "Fancy handwork" kept
Mom busy with her hands until just recently. She made many many
afghans and small craft projects for church bazaars or give-aways to
friends and family.
The family extends appreciation to all those nurses, aides and
other dedicated staff who took care of Mom in recent months at St.
Catherine's and Royal Manor Nursing Homes. Thanks to St. Paul's
Lutheran Church for the many visits by the Pastors who served Mom
communion when she was unable to get to church and the choirs that
would come during the Holidays to sing at Mom's apartment. We are
especially grateful to Kathy Ann & Tim, her Providence Hospice
nurses, to Tamara, her Hospice aide, to Brian, her Hospice Chaplain,
and to LuAnn & Martin, her Hospice Social Workers.
Memorials may be received by Providence Hospice, 4830
Lakewood Drive, Suite 5, Waco, Texas 76710.
