Sammy Gayton, Sr., 42, of Waco, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 in Waco. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Lawrence Solar as celebrant. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Monday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. followed by visitation with his family until 8:00 p.m.

Sammy was born July 19, 1970 in Waco to Emmett Gayton and Lucy Gomez Gayton. He was a painter and loved fishing and cooking. Sammy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Sammy is survived by his wife, Heather Gayton; his parents, Emmett and Lucy Gayton; his children, Joe and Ashley Gayton, Sammy Gayton, Jr., Brittany Gayton, Avianna Gayton, Kaliegha Gayton and Desirea Gayton; his step children, Israel Burns, Neil Melendez, Jr., and Miguel Burns; five grandchildren; seven nephews; 12 nieces; 39 great nephews and nieces; brothers, Adam Gayton and wife, Barbara, Reyes Lopez and wife, Debby, Robert Gayton and Emmett Danny Gayton; his sister, Misty Gayton; and numerous other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Adam Gayton, Sr., Rayes Lopez, Misty Gayton, Joe Gayton, Sammy Gayton, Jr., and Adam Gayton, Jr.
