Santos Pena

Santos was born September 8, 1934 in Gurley, Falls County, Texas to Santos and Isabella (Mendoza) Pena. As was the custom at that time, after completing third grade he went to work to help provide for the family. This work ethic was continued throughout his life. He was a kind and gentle soul to all, and believed in providing for his family.

Santos was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Theresa Calderon, Big Paul, Helen Garibey, Johnny Pena, Jesse Pena, and Janie Rodriguez.

He is survived by Delfina Pena, who he enjoyed a loving relationship with for many years, and siblings: Monica Salazar, Roy Pena, Joe Pena, Frances Gonzalez, Delores Martinez, Little Paul Pena, and Steve Pena. He is also survived by his children: Linda Martel, Eddie Pena, Janie Flores, Rick Pena, Danny Casiano, Jay Casiano, Rosie Ninos, and Chris Pena, along with numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Happy Heavenly Homecoming Dad…Granpa…Brother…Tio!! You will be missed but certainly not forgotten. You left this world at 7:56 P.M. on Sunday, February 10th, 2019. Your heart gave up and the Lord picked you up in his beautiful chariot! You have been asking for this moment for some time now, and you finally got your wish, Dad. We are glad that most of us were able to see you joyful over the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and that time was filled with talking and laughter. Many of us snapped photos, which have already become priceless treasures.

We know you are in your heavenly home now. We don’t have to worry about you falling or getting hurt anymore. The library won’t be the same without you, nor will the streets of Waco, which have been your happy stomping grounds for so many years. Your family will miss you, Dad, each and every one of us. Thank you for who you were. Love and kindness are your legacy, Dad, and that legacy has served as a lifelong example to us all. It’s made us better men and women than we otherwise would have been.

We will cherish all our memories with you; and hold tightly to the sound of your laughter. We will see you again one day, but until then, you live on in the hearts of every life you touched.
