Sharon M. Gonzales, 44, of Waco, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 1, 2008 after a brief illness and while surrounded by many family members and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2008 at Mighty Wind Worship Center, 1100 Washington Ave., with Pastor Joe Carbajal officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 4 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. A memorial video honoring Sharon's life will be shown during the visitation.
Sharon graduated in 1981 from University High School and attended McLennan Community College. Sharon was employed at Taco Bell and Pizza Hut for many years and made many friends throughout the years. She was currently employed at Waco Wal-Mart for the past 10 years. Sharon was loved by many and blessed with an abundance of friends. She will be missed by all.
Sharon was a devoted fan of sports especially the ones that her son and nephews played and she showed her support by attending their games faithfully. She loved watching professional baseball, football, and soccer. At times you could even catch her attending Baylor basketball and Texas Ranger games.
She was very active in her son's life and loved him dearly. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and for many years she has attended Mighty Wind Worship Center.
Sharon is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and her mother, Susie Hernandez Tovar.
She is survived by her son, Isaiah Villarreal; father and stepmother, Joe and Odilia Gonzales; sisters, Judy Tovar and husband Steve and their children, Zachary, Jared, and Caleb Tovar, Kristen Tovar, Yolanda Luna, stepsisters, Blanca Stella Blanco and Rosa Marquez; brother, Jose Gonzales, and step-brother, Ernest Gonzales.
Pallbearers, who are dear friends and co-workers from Wal-Mart, will be Steve Marquez, Michael Mitchell, Roman Rodriguez, Paul Quick, Calistro Moreles, Gilbert Gomez, Miguel Cabrera, and Nathan Sykes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Isaiah Villarreal, Jose Gonzales, Zachary Tovar, Jared Tovar, Caleb Tovar, Steve Tovar, Ray Garcia, and Rudy Bravo, Jr.
The family of Sharon Gonzales wishes to express its sincere gratitude and thanks to everyone for their prayers and acts of kindness.
